Originally known as Welaunee when its post office was established in 1850, the community was later renamed Pickett’s Station in honor of Armine Pickett. By 1883, it adopted the simpler name Pickett, which it still carries today, a nod to its roots in Wisconsin’s early settlement era and the steady, small‑town character that defines it.
